our history
Cornelio Cappellini is an Italian “family company” of contemporary furniture founded during the Fifties of the last century in Brianza, an area near Milan considered a world leader district for its extraordinary creativity. The company owes its name to the founder Mr. Cornelio Cappellini.
At the beginning of the new millennium, the management of the company is entrusted to the second generation where the sons and daughter of the founder continue to play actively leading roles in business management following the creative and commercial leaderships.
In the first fifty years of activity Cornelio Cappellini company was specialized in producing traditional furniture by adopting construction and finishing techniques handed down by past generations. In 2004 the first main turning point took place and the company became aware of the new trends at international level, mainly related to the growth of the Emerging markets. The collections are designed with a strong glamorous accent, emphasized by the increasing use of crystals, noble metals, soft fabrics and leathers.
2018 marks the beginning of another important evolution towards products and collections even more modern and contemporary where luxury and elegance are in perfect harmony with each other. Following this feeling, Hessentia collection has been introduced achieving an increasing success as well as in Emerging markets and in areas where the company was not present yet, such as Europe and North America.
2020 marks the moving of the company's activities to the new headquarters of Carate Brianza, near Milan: on an area of more than 16,000 square meters it was built a building of about 9,000 square meters used for production departments, offices and showroom.
The showroom has been designed with the aim of creating a contemporary villa harmoniously integrated with the outdoor terraces and the large gardens that surround it. Every single area of this new showroom is perfectly able to welcome and enhance the latest collections.
With the birth of the new collection Hessentia, a new team has been created within the company with the goal of training designers that are able to project exhibition spaces at customers’ showrooms in a better way and that are able to collaborate with the customers in designing luxurious villas and apartments too. The new team soon extended its activity participating in the creation of new products and in the research of new materials that are used to realize them. The suggestions that come from the outside world are turned into unique products thanks to the techniques and production secrets of the great artisans working in the company.

“Cornelio Cappellini” concept of living is an idea capable of going beyond the standard concept, beyond the redundancy of shapes and proportions. Each piece adapts to unique environments inside wonderful villas or apartments of great elegance: it is customizable in every aspect, shape, color and material and in this way becomes part of the space in which it is placed. The atmospheres we create in villas and apartments around the world are dreams come true where the design blends perfectly with the materials used.

At the end of the creative process of each new piece we are able to find the perfect balance between reason and feeling. We let ourselves be carried away by dreams, by passion that has always accompanied us without forgetting the reason before putting a new piece into production. And it is precisely the reason that accompanies us in the last part of the “creative journey” that allows us to offer the collections that can perfectly adapt to current needs and house features.

When we think about a new product we like to be free without limits and the creativity must always have the opportunity to manifest itself without conditioning. Art penetrates and merges into many pieces. Every production department is like an artistic branch where the artisan, like an artist, knows how to shape each piece thanks to an extraordinary know-how passed down from generation to generation.

Born in 1971 in Seregno, a small town near Milan, Claudio Cappellini first attended two different art schools that have greatly contributed to his professional training. After completing his studies, his curiosity for the art world led him to travel looking for novelties: a passion present since he was a child at the side of his father from whom he learned the skills in the use of noble materials that today are the basis of the production philosophy of Cornelio Cappellini. Claudio's skills and flair inspire the uniqueness of every single item that becomes the result of the use of many precious and refined finishes and long and accurate processes. His creative mission combined with an artistic feeling allow him to influence each individual product of Cornelio Cappellini.

Luca Erba is an Italian architect and designer born in 1984 in Brianza district . He graduated in Architecture at Polytechnic University of Milan and launched his own studio in 2010. With deep territorial, pragmatic and formal research as foundation of his creative process, he develops projects ranging from architecture to decoration, interior design and refined collections: his final purpose is creating long-lasting items, combining contemporary taste and deep respect of tradition. His approach to projects celebrates a connection between materials, industrial design, natural shapes and refined craftsmanship. Luca Erba operates for companies and editors by developing furniture collections, commercial spaces, offices and also private villas. At Salone del Mobile 2019 edition he introduced the new collection Hessentia for Cornelio Cappellini, a turning point for the company towards a new concept of living.
